Dubai’s legendary Burj Khalifa lit up on Thursday evening to mark the celebration of a very special first night of Chanukah in the United Arab Emirates, the first since Abraham’s historic accords.
“You are a witness to Jewish history,” singer Yishai Lapidot said as he performed in front of the audience during the lighting of candles as the tallest skyscraper in the world showed a dazzling light show behind him .
“The message behind Chanukah is to shed light on darkness. And I see the UAE as the brightest light in this region, ”Rav Duchman told Gulf News on Wednesday.
He added that the Jewish community would celebrate Chanukah with events “all over Dubai and Abu Dhabi”, in order to involve the wider community in the United Arab Emirates as well.
In addition to Lapidot, singers Moshe Louk, Haim Israel, and Ruli Dikman are also expected to perform at various Chanukah events across the United Arab Emirates.
